Routine & Medical Eye Exams for Children, Teens, & Adults

Everyday Vision Care for Families in Stonecrest and Marietta

We offer full-scope eye exams for patients of all ages at our two Walmart Vision Center locations. Whether you are here for a yearly prescription check or to monitor a medical condition like diabetes, you will receive a clear and direct examination from a doctor who takes the time to explain their findings.

At our Lithonia office, we see infants and young children. At Marietta, we begin exams at age five. Both locations accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most major insurance plans.

What to Expect During Your Vision Visit

Your exam will include a review of your vision, eye movement, and internal eye health. We check for prescription changes and screen for issues like glaucoma, cataracts, and signs of strain or disease. If needed, we will use dilation or imaging for a more detailed view.

You will receive a comprehensive explanation of your results, along with a copy of your updated prescription, if applicable. If something needs follow-up, whether it is dry eye, diabetic changes, or vision loss, we will tell you what that means and what your options are.

When to Schedule Care & Why It Matters

Most patients benefit from a complete eye exam once a year, even if they haven’t noticed any changes in their vision. Children need routine vision checks as they grow, beginning before they start school. Adults over 40, and anyone managing conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, may require more frequent monitoring. Our doctors will recommend the best exam schedule for you based on your health history and risk factors.

Outside of your regular schedule, you should book an eye exam if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Blurry or double vision
  • Eye strain or frequent headaches
  • Squinting or trouble reading small print
  • Difficulty focusing at school or work
  • Dryness, itchiness, or burning
  • Light sensitivity or eye discomfort
  • Changes in night vision
  • Sudden vision loss or visual distortion

If your vision changes or something does not feel right, do not wait for it to get worse. We are here to take a closer look and help you move forward with clear, useful answers.

We Have Pediatric Eye Exams at Both Locations

Children’s vision is a major part of what we do. At Lithonia Family Eyecare, we see infants and young children starting from a few months old. At Eyecare of Marietta, we see children beginning at age five. Our doctors tailor each pediatric exam to the child’s age and development, with special attention to comfort and communication.

Our team checks for common childhood vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, eye coordination issues, and early signs of myopia progression. We also guide parents on topics like screen time, reading habits, and school performance.

Medical Coverage & Insurance for Vision Care

When you visit us for a diagnosed condition such as diabetic eye disease, high eye pressure, or sudden vision changes, medical insurance may cover your exam. These exams are just as thorough as routine visits, but they include additional testing and long-term monitoring.

We accept Georgia Medicaid, Medicare, and most major plans. If you are not sure whether your visit falls under vision or medical coverage, our staff can review this with you before you arrive.
