Pediatric Eye Exams in Lithonia & Marietta, GA

Simple, Practical Eye Care for Kids—From Infants to Teens

We provide pediatric eye exams at both of our locations inside Walmart Vision Centers. At Lithonia Family Eyecare, we see children as young as six months. At Eyecare of Marietta, we begin exams at age five. Whether it is your child’s first checkup or a yearly follow-up, we keep the process clear, low-stress, and age-appropriate.

Both offices accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most major insurance plans.

What We Look For During a Child’s Exam

Our team bases each exam on your child’s age and stage of development. We assess how clearly they see, how well their eyes work together, and whether any concerns need immediate care or long-term monitoring. For school-age children, we also evaluate how vision may be affecting learning or daily comfort.

We test for:

  • Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
  • Eye alignment and tracking
  • Signs of progressive myopia
  • Visual fatigue or strain
  • General eye health and development

You will leave with information and a plan, if one is needed.

Signs Your Child Might Need an Eye Exam

Even if your child is not complaining, there may be signs that something is off. We recommend booking an exam if you have noticed:

  • Squinting or sitting too close to screens
  • Frequent eye rubbing or blinking
  • Headaches at school or after reading
  • Trouble keeping focus or losing their place while reading
  • Avoiding books or screens altogether
  • No eye exam in the last year

Vision issues are not always obvious. That is why yearly exams are important, especially before school starts or if your child is struggling in the classroom.

Why Early Vision Care Makes a Difference

Undiagnosed vision problems can affect more than eyesight. They can lead to frustration at school, lower confidence, or misunderstandings about a child’s attention span or learning ability. Many issues, such as myopia, eyestrain, or alignment problems, are manageable when caught early.

Our exams aim to identify issues before they become larger problems. And if everything looks good? We will tell you that, too.
