What Is Eye Surgery Co-Management?

Surgery co-management means our optometrists work directly with your surgeon to coordinate your care. You will go to the surgical center for your procedure. All other steps, including pre-op exams and post-op checkups, can be handled locally at our clinics in Stonecrest and Marietta

We commonly co-manage:

  • Cataract surgery (standard and premium lens implants)
  • LASIK and PRK laser eye surgery
  • YAG laser capsulotomy (a follow-up laser procedure after cataract surgery)

This coordinated care model helps reduce the number of trips to the surgery center and keeps your routine care with the doctors you already know and trust.

Pre-Operative Exams at Our Local Clinics

Before surgery, we will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to confirm your readiness and share the results with your surgical team. We offer:

  1. Pre-op eye health exams and testing.
  2. Referrals to ophthalmologists in DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett County.
  3. Review of surgical options and what to expect.
  4. Insurance coordination and referral support.
  5. Prescription updates and glasses options before or after surgery.

Whether you already have a surgeon or need a referral, we can help you prepare, from your initial exam to the day of surgery.

Post-Operative Follow-Up Care Close to Home

After your cataract or LASIK procedure, your surgeon will often send you back to our office for follow-up care. These visits are important to make sure your eyes are healing properly, your vision is stable, and your results meet your expectations.

We provide:

  1. Next-day post-op checkups.
  2. Vision testing and pressure monitoring.
  3. Evaluation for inflammation or dryness.
  4. Medication management (e.g., eye drops, steroids).
  5. Ongoing care coordination with your surgeon.

Patients throughout Conyers, Covington, Smyrna, and Kennesaw trust us to manage their follow-ups with clear explanations and efficient scheduling.

How to Know If You are a Candidate for Surgery

You don’t have to wait until your vision gets worse to start asking questions. We help many patients in Stonecrest, Conyers, Marietta, and nearby areas understand when it is time to consider surgery, especially if they are unsure whether they are ready.

You may be a candidate for cataract surgery or laser vision correction if you are experiencing:

  • Blurry vision that glasses can’t correct
  • Glare or halos around lights, especially at night
  • Difficulty reading or seeing road signs
  • Frequent prescription changes
  • Trouble with daily tasks, even with glasses on

Do I Need a Referral for an Appointment?

No referral is needed to start with us. Many of our patients come in for a general eye exam or cataract evaluation and leave with a clear understanding of whether surgery is a good option for them and how to proceed.

If you already have a surgeon, we will coordinate directly with their office to handle your testing and follow-ups here, locally. If you do not yet have a surgeon, we will refer you to an ophthalmologist we know and trust, often in the Stonecrest, Marietta, or Smyrna areas.

We will help with:

  • Sending medical records and pre-op test results
  • Explaining insurance coverage (including Medicaid)
  • Scheduling support and follow-up communication

Our goal is to keep things simple and help you feel supported from start to finish, with no extra phone calls or confusion.
